The history of Glasgow based Central Car Auctions goes back several decades. In 1960, our founder John Miller, worked at the Morrison McLeary auction house in Sauchiehall Street which auctioned everything from household goods to bric a brac. In 1963 John set up his own car auction company, Wm Mitchell & Sons in Glasgow's Gallowgate area where he operated until his untimely death in 1965, at which time his widow went into partnership with Alex Beith to form Central Car Auctions.

John's son and our current Chairman Jonathan Miller, joined the company in 1967 at the tender age of 15. Over the next 30 years Jonathan developed and expanded the business during which time, the company's endearing Auction Man logo became a very familiar and recognised image throughout Scotland.

In 1996, we left our long established home in the Gallowgate and crossed the River Clyde to new premises in Scotland Street - which we rapidly outgrew. So in early 2002, Jonathan decided to buy an 8.9 acre site just off the M8 at Baillieston creating in the process what is now the country's leading car auction facilities.

Central Car Auctions is far and away Scotland's biggest and best indoor car auction and every sale we organise boasts an unbeatable range of great value, top quality vehicles sourced from many of the country's leading motor groups, as well as hundreds of cars from private sellers.

Jason Miller Managing Director

Nowadays, day to day management of Central Car Auctions is in the capable hands of Jason Miller, the third generation of the Miller family to occupy the Managing Director's seat. However Jonathan Miller maintains a watching eye in his role as Chairman and every week, between him and Jason, they ensure more than 1,400 vehicles (70,000 plus annually) go under the famous Central Car Auctions hammer.
