Are the vehicles all indoors?

Our indoor auction hall is full with a huge range and variety of washed and body polished vehicles every auction day, so you can view literally hundreds of cars without the need to go outside. However, there any many more vehicles available to view outside, which we bring in, valet and made ready to auction as the stock rotates throughout each auction day.

Can I come and look at the vehicles ready for auction at any time?

You are very welcome to come and look at the vehicles ready for auction. The auction site is open Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 8:30am to 6pm, Tuesday & Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 11:30am with the auctions every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 noon, with the doors open from 8:30am each day.

How often is the vehicle list updated?

An industry beating 'every 30 minutes'! Head over to our Vehicle Listing page or pick up a Sale Catalogue, available from our Payments Office counter from one hour before the start of each new auction day.

I'm looking for a particular car. Can Central Car auctions help?

To help you find the vehicle you've been looking for, you can now create online notifications for vehicle configurations via our Vehicle Alerts System and as soon as something appropriate arrives a notification will be sent to your specified email address, keeping you up-to-date with the newest matching vehicles in our system.

I've got a limited budget! Is it worth me attending?

Each week there is always something for everyone. We have such a wide selection of styles, specifications and marques. Generally, vehicles presented in Auction Hall 1 have a reserve of over £2,500 and vehicles with a reserve value of under £2,500 are presented in Auction Hall 2. Some even have no reserve price and must be sold to the highest bidder, so there are always unbeatable bargains.

What should I bring with me to an auction?

If you are a buyer, a minimum of £200 deposit (cash, debit card, credit card) and proof of VAT Registration, if applicable.

If you are selling your car at auction, bring the V5 document (vehicle Registration log book), current MOT (as applicable) and request a FREE and accurate valuation from one of our sales team.

What warranty applies to the vehicle I've bought?

All vehicles auctioned are presented and sold as No Guarantee - Sold As Seen, therefore all vehicles are non-returnable.

'Sold As Seen' generally applies to older, less expensive vehicles that have no mechanical warranty whatsoever. When you buy a car 'Sold As Seen', you buy it with all its faults, whatever and however serious they may be. An 'As Seen' car should be very carefully inspected before it goes under the hammer. (All main agent and company direct vehicles are sold as ‘Sold As Seen').

Mileage warranties are described by the auctioneers at the time of sale and are declared on the vehicle's windscreen sticker.

Where do all the cars come from?

From private individuals, independent car dealers, local businesses but in the main, from the leading franchised car dealership groups across Scotland including the likes of Parks Motor Group, Arnold Clark, Border Cars, Phoenix, SDM ... to name just a few of them.
