What is NAMA Vehicle Grading?
NAMA Vehicle Grading is a standardised grading scheme developed by the National Automobile Dealers Association that auction houses adhere to when assessing the condition and value of used vehicles. The NAMA Grading system consists of five grades, with each reflecting the overall condition of the vehicle – both internally and externally.
The grading system has been designed to benefit both buyers and sellers, allowing sellers to request a price based on the condition of the vehicle in relation to similar vehicles on the market, while buyers can make confident, informed decisions based on the condition and value of the vehicle.

How NAMA Vehicle Grading works
Inspection
Our certified vehicle inspectors conduct a thorough inspection of each vehicle, evaluating and documenting its condition both internally and externally.
Assessment
Based on the results of the inspection, the vehicle is assigned a grade according to the NAMA standardised grading scale.
Transparency
Buyers and sellers receive detailed inspection reports on each vehicle, providing transparency and peace of mind throughout their buying or selling process.
The Grades Explained
Grade 1
Grade 1These vehicles are in excellent condition, with minor or no defects in panel surfaces. They may require SMART repairs, such as small scratches or dents, or a limited number of quality repairs may have already been performed. They will require no remedial work to body panels, paintwork, interior or glass.
Grade 2
Grade 2These vehicles may require some of the repairs mentioned in Grade 1 above, or minor SMART repairs may have already been carried out. Plus, they may require up to one major or minor bodyshop repair to one panel or bumper.
Grade 3
Grade 3These vehicles may require the repairs mentioned in Grade 1 and 2, as well as up to five minor panel repairs (i.e. small scratches, chips and/or minor broken parts), three major panel repairs (i.e. scratches, scuffs or dents) or the replacement of a part.
Grade 4
Grade 4These vehicles may require the repairs mentioned in Grade 1, 2 and 3, as well as one panel that may need to be replaced and/or multiple minor paint or dent repairs to panels. Other trims or parts may also be required.
Grade 5
Grade 5These vehicles may require the repairs mentioned in Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4, as well as the replacement of two panels due to a collision, severe abuse or other major damage.
