As part of their ongoing effort to raise vital funds for motor neurone disease (MND) research, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation have just completed their latest cycling challenge: the Doddie’5 Lion Challenge.
The challenge saw 50 cyclists riding from Belfast to Dublin, covering a distance of over 500 miles in just six days! However, it wasn’t just the heroes from My Name’5 Doddie Foundation cycling away – Central Car Auctions also took part, riding 960 miles in the branch and doing their bit to fundraise and help the charity reach their overall target of £555,555!
With some newly installed static bikes, our Glasgow branch members took turns cycling throughout the week, pushing for every mile and earning every penny to add to the growing collection. This was part of Group-wide effort, but we are thrilled with how well our staff did over the week, cycling a staggering 960 miles and raising an incredible £1346. We know that these funds will have a fantastic impact in the battle against MND and we are incredibly proud of the team’s efforts.
The foundation was launched in November 2017 by Doddie Weir, former Scotland rugby player, who suffered from motor neurone disease. Doddie launched the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation with the vision of finding a cure for MND – by helping to fund research and supporting those living with the disease.
Through some truly incredibly challenges, including the Kenny Logan World Cup Challenge where international rugby superstar Kenny Logan cycled from Edinburgh to Paris, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation funds research into motor neurone disease, raising awareness of the illness while fighting to find a cure and cementing the legacy of Doddie Weir as one of the all-time great athletes of our time – both on and off the pitch.
